Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the diagnostic value of MRI in tethered cord syndrome. Methods:The MRI appearances of48cases with tethered cord syndrome were analyzed retroˉspectively. Results:Spinal cord was terminated below L2in43cases.There were25cases with thickened filum terminal,38cases with spina bifida,22cases with lipomeningogele or myelomeningele,17cases with lipoma,13cases with diastematomyelia,6cases with syˉringomyelia,1case with dermoid,5cases with epidermoid. Conclusion:MRI can display the position of the spinal cord and the cause of tethered cord syndrome.Spinal deformations can also be displied clearly.MRI is important in the diagnosis and treatment of tethered cord synˉdrome.
