American Support and the Rise of Japanese Economy

At the end of World War II, Japanese national economy fell into a state of chaos and collapse due to the destruction of war. However, it revived and achieved rapid development in a very short period of time after the war and soon joined the leading capitalist countries. In the meantime, the changes of American policies toward Japan and a series of economic reconstruction aids provided by U.S.A., especially the “ orders for special supplies during the Korean war laid an indispensable foundation, which is an important factor for the resurgence of Japanese economy, for the rapid recovery of Japanese economy in the fifties and the rapid growth as a world economic power in the sixties.
