Abstract

A method for simultaneous determination of amaranth and tartrazine content in drinks was developed by Ultraviolet spectrophotometer. The results showed that the maximum absorption wavelength are 521nm and 428nm for tartrazine and amaranth, respectively.with the molar absorptivity(e) of 1.36 × 104 and 3.54 × 104 L·mol-1 · cm-1.The relative standard deviations is 0.10 percent and 0.11 percent. The recovery rates fome 95.0 percent to 98.1 percent. This method was proved to be simple, accurate and reliable.
