Abstract
Objective: To discuss the cause of urinary retention after removal of catheter, decrease the probability of catheterization again and reduce the damage of urethral mucosa. Methods: 275 cases were divided into control group and experimental group. Before remove catheter,138 cases in experimental group were injected a glyerin into urinary catheter during transfusion;while patients in control group were removed catheter after a day's bladder function training. Results: The patients in experimental group could urinate by themselves except three cases, while control group were received catheterization again because of urinary retention. Conclusions: The understanding of cause of urinary retention, strictly grasping of the indication of urethral catheterization during operation, proper catheter, gently action, strict aseptic technique, the strengthening of nursing of catheter, drainage pack and perineum, the shortening of the time of urinary tube indwelling, the reduction of the probability of urinary tract infection and the application of glyerin to stimulate bladder contraction can effectively reduce the incidence of urinary retention.
