Abstract

Passive equalization is generally applied to valve-regulated lead-acid(VRLA) battery packs of Chinese electric bicycles. The passive equalization could reduce battery pack cycle life due to overcharge and overdischarge.Based on a general, low cost, module principle and experiments,a design of active equalizing charge/discharge has bean given in this paper. It has achieved good results of battery equalization in the contrast tests on 48 V-12 Ah VRLA battery packs.
