Abstract

Objective To evaluate risk factors of the hallux valgus.Methods To compare the impact of genetic factor and living habits on the hallux valgus,500 cases of hallux valgus in the recent two years were set to the hallux valgus group and 500 cases of healthy people were set to control group by the case-control study.No statistical difference was found in age,territory and sex,and no hallux valgusand and other skeletal deformities was found in the control group.Results The rate of round head of first metatarsal bone was more in the hallux valgus group than that in the control group(P 0.05).The rate of oversized plantar angle was more in the hallux valgus group than that in the control group(P 0.05).The rate of metatarsus varus was more in the hallux valgus group than that in the control group(P 0.05).The rate of congenital exceptional sesamoid was more in the hallux valgus group than that in the control group(P 0.05).Conclusion There is correlation between round head of first metatarsal bone,oversized plantar angle,metatarsus varus,congenital exceptional sesamoid and the hallux valgus.It deserves the further research and approach for we to use the factors to screen the susceptible population,propose the prophylactico-therapeutic measures and decrease the inci dence of hallux valgus.
