Abstract
Poems Dedicated to Tao Yuanming revealed Su Shi's state of mind in his later years: Filled with remorse for his failure to be awakened in time to reality, the author was determined to model himself on Tao Yuanming who quit office to live a peaceful pastoral life; totally bored with politics in his later years, Su Shi unveiled the evils of officialdom through his poems, while harboring deep affections for the common people and his friends and relatives. It becomes obvious through his poems that in the face of cruel reality his heart was tortured with emotional conflicts in his later years.
