Key Construction Technology for Originally Innovated Root Type Caisson Foundation

The root type caisson foundation is a sort of originally innovated foundation.The principle of the foundation is to prereserve holes in the walls of the caisson and the prefabricated root studs will be then jacked through the holes into the soil outside the caisson after the caisson is sunk to its designed elevation.In case that the studs are rigidly fixed with the caisson,the caisson will become a so-called bionic foundation.This paper mainly describes the key construction technology for various construction steps of the root type caisson foundation used for Maanshan Changjiang River Highway Bridge, including the sinking method for the lightweight caisson,complete set of the devices and workmanship for jacking of the studs and water stoppage measures taken in course of jacking of the studs.
