Abstract
Through detailed structural analysis, this paper studies the stress strain vestige of Sainantala Sag,and constructs its formation and evolution pattern. It proves that this sag is a rift basin with shear characteristics which forms in the background of left-lateral slip tenso regional stress field. It has mainly extensional structure style with the characteristics of strike slip.Basing on the formation strategy of the sag, this paper predicts seven sags in the southern part of Erlian Basin have potential of hydrocarbon exploration.
