Abstract

AIM To explore the possible effects of querctin (200 mg·kg -1 , ip) on bleomycininduced pulmonary fibrosis in rats METHODS The model for pulmonary fibrosis in rats was established by intratracheal administration of BLM (5 mg·kg -1 ) The amount of lipidperoxides (LPO), hydroxyproline in lung issuse hemogenate was determined at 3, 7, 14, 28 day after Bleomycin administration respectively In addition, histological changes, width of alveolar septa, and percentage areas of pulmonary fibrosis scars were measured RESULTS The amounts of LPO, hydroxyproline of lung homogenate were significantly decreased, and BLMinduced pulmonary damage was ameliorated by quercetin CONCLUSION Quercetin can prevent from BLMinduced pulmonary fibrosis in rats
