This text points out that the word“novel”in the Chinese ancient works was not that one having the meaning of modern literary-style before the Six-dynasty;While at that time the works,with the factors of the modern novel literary-style,weren't named novels,These two lines didn't join together gradually until Tang Dynasty,hence forming a“Y”trend,And the Six-dynasty is just the time that the two end lines of the“Y”have taken shape respectively but haven't joined,In view of this,when using the concept of“the Six-dynasty novel”,we should take both sides into account,instead of attending to one and ignoring the other.
