Abstract

Taking the B4+6 steep inclined seam in Liudaowan Mine of Urumqi Mining Area,Xinjiang as the research object, the numerical simulation means was applied to the simulation study on the feasibility of high cutting mining in the shortwall coal mining face in the steep inclined seam. The study showed that in the about 65 steep inclined seam or the coal mining face with about 30 m thick, after the mining operation of the coal mining face, the rock blocks above the goaf would be downward moved along the trough type goaf area after the sectional coal mining face completed the mining and backfilled the goaf. The roof rock falling and backfilled in goaf would form an effective support to the roof strata, thus could eliminate the surrounding rock collapse in a large scale due to the mining space increased from the roof strata control and could showed that the high cutting mining in the B4+6 steep inclined seam of Liudaowan Mine was feasible.
