Abstract

Objective: to explore the effect of treadmill running different loads on bone mass and bone metabolism of old female rats. Methods: 40 12-month-old rats are randomly divided into 4 groups(n=10 respectively):control group,low-intensity exercise group,moderate-intensive exercise group and high-intensity exercise group. They are trained for six times per week for 10 weeks. We observe the effect of treadmill running of different loads on whole body bone mass density, bone mass of cortical bone in middle point of femur, serum alkaline phosphatase(AKP) and osteocalcin(BGP).Results: The contents of bone mass density of low-intensity exercise group,moderate-intensive exercise group are higher significantly than those of control group and high-intensity exercise group. The contents of AKP,BGP of low-intensity exercise group,moderate-intensive exercise group,high-intensity exercise group are significantly higher than those of control group. Conclusion: Low and medium intensity exercise are suitable exercise styles for old women, which alleviate the loss of bone mass with advanced age.It suggests that low and medium intensity exercises are favorable to prevent against osteoporosis among old people.
