Abstract
Objective To study the effectiveness of nursing intervention on relieving anxiety of patients in ICU.Methods A randomized control study of 100 cases in ICU was carried out in this hospital, they were divided into control group and intervention group with 50 cases in each group. Self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and hospital sleep questionnaire (SMH) were surveyed for all patients at the first day of admission. Patients in control group were cared with routine nursing and patients in intervention group were cared with application of comprehensive intervention including social support, information support and nursing for promoting good sleep of patients. Re-evaluation was carried out on 5th day of hospitalization.Results There was anxiety in all patients in ICU at the first day of admission, and the difference in SAS and SMH scores between patients of these two groups after adoption of comprehensive nursing intervention was statistically significant (P0.01) .Conclusion Nursing intervention can effectively improve sleep and relieving anxiety of patients in ICU, and it is worthy to be applied and recommended.
