Abstract
Dealing with the mind-body problem, mainstream functionalists tried to keep to the stand of physicalism, while to be against reducing mental state to physical state. This kind of nonreductive physicalism is based on the fact of realization.J.Kim has analyzed the multiple realization into single realizations by the local reduction, thereby he stands for the reductive physicalism. However,Kim's theory of functional reduction is incapable of dealing with consciousness that is the most important subject in philosophy of mind.
