Abstract

A new leg strength training method was developed in which the load for eccentric contraction of the leg extensor is decreased to enhance athletes' training efficiency and performance ability. Electromyography (EMG) was used to compare the differences in leg muscle activity for this training method and the squat lifting training method. The results indicate that with this method, the leg muscles’ activity status is very close to during skating, so the strength training is improved and more directly specialized for skating.
