The mRNA expression of AT_1-R,AT_2-R and CYP11B2 in human left and right atrial tissue with atrial fibrillation

Abstract

Objective:This study was designed to analyze the mRNA expression of angiotensinⅡReceptors type 1(AT_1-R),type 2(AT_2-R)and aldosterone synthase(CYP11 B2)in human atrial myocardium with atrial fibrillation.Methods:23 patients who underwent opened thoracic surgery due to heart disease were enrolled.Of these cases,there were 15 males and 8 females.The average age was(34.42±13.57)years old.The mRNA expression of AT_1-R,AT_2-R and CYP11B2 in atrial tissue was determined by Semi-Polymerase Chain Reaction (Semi-PCR).Results:The level of AT_1- R mRNA in left atria was higher tban that in right atria,but no statistical difference was observed (P>0.05).There was no significant change in CYP11B2 mRNA level between left and right atrial myocardium(P>0.05).Whereas the level of AT_2-R mRNA in left atria was upregulated signifi candy by 21.3% as compared with right atria(P<0.05).Conclusion:The left atrial structural remodeling might be mainly mediated by AT_1-R,and the upregulation of AT_2-R mRNA probably was a mechanism of adaptation and compensation to left atrial structural remodeling.
