Abstract

Objective To evaluate the feasibility and accuracy of real-time three-dimensional echocardiography(RT-3DE) in measuring left ventricular volume and systolic function in patients with ventricular aneurysm. Methods Left ventricular end diastolic volume(LVEDV), left ventricular systolic volume(LVESV) and left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF) in 21 patients with ventricular aneurysm were measured using RT-3DE and left ventricular angiography. Comparison between values acquired by RT-3DE and left ventricular angiography was taken. Results Overall shape of left ventricle with ventricular aneurysm can be showed using RT-3DE. The measurement values of LVEDV and LVESV by RT-3DE were smaller than by left ventricular angiography, which had significant difference(P 0.05).There was no significant difference in LVEF between the two methods(P 0.05). There was a good correlation in LVEDV,LVESV and LVEF between the two methods(r=0.76, 0.86, 0.67). Conclusion RT-3DE can measure accurately left ventricular volume and systolic function in patients with ventricular aneurysm.
