Abstract

The environmental biomonitoring has taken more and more important part in the monitoring of pollution and the tendency. Marine algae have high abilities to accumulate from surrounding water. In this paper, some special species of marine algae (Codium and Ulva) were collected at Tuandao and Huiquan Jiao in the Jiaozhou Bay,29 elemental contents in these algae were determined by instrumental neutron activation analysis and atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS). By comparing these different elemental concentrations, preliminarily identify the codium as the optimal biomonitor and discuss the difference of the environmental quality between Tuandao and Huiquan Jiao. Using Codium as biomonitor, it showed the water quality in Tuandao was worse than that in Huiquan Jiao.
