Abstract
The ecological environment of Shanxi Province is extremely fragile. The factors of severe soil and water loss, low rate of forest coverage, scarcity of water resources and serious mining damage have effected and limited the social and economic sustainable development of the province. The quantitative study on ecological environment of Shanxi Province is shown that ecological environment of 8 counties are better, 34 counties at normal level, 35 counties worse and 16 counties the worst. The above results shown that the situation of ecological environment of the province is severe and the work of ecological environmental protection and rebuilding should be strengthened.
