Abstract

The disequilibrium sediment transfer principle was utilized to calculate river erosion?deposition and to analyze river regime changes for the middle and lower reaches of the Hanjiang River for different water transfer schemes. The calculation results indicated that in aspect of river?reach erosion amount the diversion water 145×108 m3 scheme is less than that of 15×108 m3 scheme, and for the descents of water level, the former is smaller than the latter. Owing to water transfer 145×108 m3, the river regime, flood control and navigation will cause certain affections to the middle and lower reaches of the Hanjiang River, so a new water source must be developed to satisfy the demands of industry, agriculture, navigation and ecological environment for this region.
