Analysis of Urban-rural Income Gap in Anhui Province Based on Panel Data

It is researched for the urban-rural income gap in Anhui province. We analyzed influencing factors of the urban-rural income gap and its effects on the urban-rural income gap in Anhui province from the horizontal and longitudinal angles using stepwise regression and panel data model based on the data in13 cities of Anhui province from 2003 to 2011. The results indicated that the urbanization level has a significant impact on the income gap between urban and rural areas,and has a negative effect on the income gap between urban and rural areas,which is shaped U with time trend. The impact of urbanization on the urban-rural income gap showed inconsistencies in all cities. So we can narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas effectively by speeding up the urbanization,the development of new urbanization in Anhui province. Finally,some suggestions are put forward on how to narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas.
