Abstract
Objective: To synthesize Butyl Lactate with new catalyst. Methods: Butyl Lactate was synthesized from lactic acid and n-butyl alcohol.NS-2 was used as catalyst and the reaction conditions were discussed. Results: The yield of the ester reached 94.5﹪ on condition that the moleculer of the alcohol and the acid were 1.3:1 and the time of refluxing was 2.5h and the amount of catalyst was 1.5% of total mass of the reactant. Conclusion: The catalyst NS-2 is simple and applicable.
