Study on Composition of Population for Voluntary Blood Donation in A City

Objective To investigate composition of voluntary blood donors to carry out pertinent blood donation promotion.Method We analyzed the gender,age,educational level,occupation,blood type of blood donors from 2005 to 2009.Result The distribution of blood type was O B A AB.The majority of blood donors was front-line staff in production and transportation(38.27%),followed by other free employees(36.08%);with age mainly from 30 to 40 years old(37.58%),followed by 18 to 25 years(26.03%);males were more than females,with the male to female ratio was 1.5:1.Conclusion To better promote the sustainable development of voluntary blood donation,we should innovate the concept of blood donation promotion,actively mobilize government office,institutions and rural population to take part in blood donation.
