Abstract

Objective To analyse the morphologic characters of mentum and its use in the treatment of microgenia. Methods The morphologic characters of mentum from 12 patients were analyzed by cephalometry, and bone advancement in horizontal osteotomy advancement genioplasty was designed according to the difference between the cephalometric results and normal values. Results Horizontal osteotomy advancement genioplasty were performed according to the results of cephalometry, and in all 12 patient′s cephalometry results were consistent with prediction. All patients were satisfied with their chin after surgery. Conclusion Morphologic analysis is necessary for a satisfactory cosmetic result in genioplasty.
