A Comparative Research on Educational Thoughts of ZHANG Jian and CAI Yuan-pei

Both ZHANG Jian and CAI Yuan pei were famous bourgeois educational thinkers of modern China .They had many views in common ,such as reforming the old traditional education and founding the new bourgeois education ,but they differed in some aspects .In regard to the educational principles , although they both suggested to enable the students to develop morally ,intellectually and physically, CAI Yuan pei weighed beauty education more highly .While CAI insisted that higher education should be developed first ,ZHANG thought the other way ,he thought we should pay more attention to the foundational education and build more primary school.CAI relied the government solely to fund the education,ZHANG solved the problem mainly by developing industry and commerce.In administering affairs concerning schools,ZHANG managed schools strictly,CAI did more democraticly.
