Research on Roman Law's Sources of Proprietorship Institutions in Egyptian Civil Code(1948)

Egypt enacted a new civil code based on French civil code(1804).The legal culture of Egypt,thereby,was put in the field of Continental Legal System originated from Roman law.Before the invasion of French law,Roman law had been applied to Egypt almost 500 years.In sum,Roman law had far-reaching influence on Egypt legal culture,especially on the revision of civil code.This paper,based on the proprietorship institutions as entry points,discusses the foundations and sources of the Roman law in Egyptian Civil Code(1948),through the ancient and modern comparison of the institutional concept,restriction,acquiring and protection.
