Abstract

Objective To study characteristics of the infectious outbreaks at schools in Jiangmen City, and to offer scientific bases to take targeted measures of control and prevention. Methods Descriptive epidemiology analysis was used to analyze the data of the infectious outbreaks at schools in Jiangmen City from 2007 to 2010,involving 150 events. Results Respiratory infectious diseases were the major type of the school infectious events, which accounted for 86.00%.Most events occurred in elementary schools(accounted for 55.33%).Most outbreaks were reported from schools(accounted for 74.67%).Median of the reported time was 3 days.Median of the lasting time of the outbreaks was 4 days. Conclusion The control effect of infectious outbreaks is better, but the information reported is not timely.Comprehensive measures should be taken to improve the sensitivity of early warning.
