Abstract
In retrospect of the development of China's science and technology periodicals and in view of information obtaining and transmission, this paper presents a study on the major properties and social performance of China's periodicals. It also gives a brief introduction to both the key journals of the statistic source China Science Periodicals Quotation Report compiled by the Ministry of State Science and Technology, and the index system as well as its creativeness of An Overview of Bibliography of the Chinese language Key Periodicals compiled by the Periodicals Research Society of Libraries of universities in Beijing. Based on an analysis of the strategic significance of China's Periodicals Matrix, the authors of this paper take as the historical mission of the people working in the field periodicals compilation and publication to bring forth excellent periodicals. The paper has also come up with a looking back over the advantages of XUAT Journal (Natural Science Edition) together with some constructive views as well as a brief survey of the Engineering Index Database.
