Abstract

The odontogenic keratocyst(OKC)is reclassified as the keratocystic odontogenic tumour(KCOT)by the World Health Organization(WHO)based on the well-known aggressive behaviour of this lesion, its histology and new information regarding its genetics. The purpose of this paper is to review the biological features of the odontogenic keratocyst(OKC), and its appropriate surgical management:conservative modalities-enucleation alone or marsupialization followed by enucleation and more aggressive or radical treatment-resection.
