Abstract
A compost experiment using swine manure and rice bran was conducted to study the initial C/N ratio on maturity of composting.The results showed that the compost at initial C/N ratio of 28 had higher GI,T-value and lower NH4+-N/NO3——N ratio than that of initial C/N ratio of 18,35,40.For lack of available nitrogen or available carbon in the compost at low C/N ratio or at high C/N ratio might contribute to restrain microorganism growth and metabolism.The optimum initial C/N ratio for pig manure composting was 28.
