Urban and Urban Transportation:Development Courses and Interactions

Through an analysis of the courses of urban trans-portation developments both in developed countries and in Chi-na, this paper summarizes characteristics of urban transportation and urban development of various stages, and investigates the interactions between urban transportation and urban development. The findings show that the improvement and renewal of the means or modes to travel has an influence on the interactions of urban transportation and urban development, and that these interactions are mainly a manifestation of their impacts on urban spatial structure. While, the effect on urban economic development as a result of this impact process is one of the core areas in the research on urban spatial and transportation interactions.
