Abstract

Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of intravenous levofloxacin versus ceftriaxone in treatment of community acquired pneumonica(CAP).Methods: A prospective, comparative study was carried out in CAP patients.Patient received either levofloxacin intravenously or ceftriax one for 7-14 days. Results: Clinical cure rats and total effective rats were 74% and 94% in levofloxacin group;69.2% and 92.2% in control group;the bacterial eradication rate being 90% and 87.8%.there was no significant difference in incidence of adverse reaction between the two groups(p0.05).Conclusion: levofloxacin is an effective and safe drug in the treatment of community acquired pneumonica.
