Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of Huatuojiaji point injection in treating postherpetic neuralgia(PHN). Methods Sixty PHN patients were randomly allocated to a treatment group of 30 cases and a control group of 31 cases. The control group received medication and the treatment group, Huatuojiaji point injection of Salvia in addition. Pretreatment and posttreatment VAS scores and the clinical therapeutic effects were compared between the two groups. Results There was a statistically significant difference in the VAS score between before treatment and at one week after the beginning of treatment, at the end of treatment or at three months after the end of treatment in both groups(P0.01). At three months after the end of treatment, there was a statistically significant difference in the VAS score between the treatment and control groups(P0.01). The total efficacy rate was 93.3% in the treatment group and 83.9% in the control group. There was a statistically significant difference in clinical therapeutic effect between the two groups(P0.05). Conclusion Huatuojiaji point injection is an effective way to treat postherpetic neuralgia.
