Abstract
Objective:To explore the clinical efficacy and safety of metformin in treatment of insulin-resistant polycystic ovary syndrome.Methods:28 infertile women were divided into two groups randomly. There was no difference in indexes before treatment between the two groups (P0.05).The levels of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH),luteinizing hormone (LH),testosterone (T),estradiol (E2),fasting insulin and postprandial insulin in the two groups were detected.Cases in group A were treated by vitamin E orally,100 mg/d; cases in group B were treated by metformin,500mg at a time,3 times every day.The treatment was terminated when the women got pregnancy. After 3 months, endocrine function, fasting insulin and postprandial insulin levels in the two groups were detected. Results:There was significant difference in fasting insulin and postprandial insulin levels, ovulation rate and pregnancy rate between group A and group B.Conclusion:Metformin improves insulin-resistant polycystic ovary syndrome and increases ovulation rate and pregnancy rate.
