Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship bet we en lung injury from intestinal ischemia-reperfusion and polymorphonuclear neutr ophils in rats. Methods 24 adult male SD rats were randomly divided into three groups ( n =8),such as sham-operation,intestinal ischemia, and intestina l ischemia-reperfusion (I/R).The pulmonary microvascular permeability and the levels of myeloperoxidase (MPO),malondialdehyde (MDA),superoxide dismutase (SOD) of the lung tissue were checked in each group. Results Comparing with other two groups, the level of MDA, MPO and microvascular permeability in the lung tissue were significantly increas ed in the group of I/R.Conclusion polymorphonuclear neutrophils mediate pulmonar y microvascular injury after intestinal ischemia-reperfusion in rats.
