Abstract

The motion acceleration peak of earthquake from epicenter to ground is discussed based on American strong ground motion records according to the Chinese site classifying method.Peak acceleration is computed by 730 earthquake records on three directions, and then the change law is obtained on the same magnitude section. The influence of distance between the epicenter and the ground on motion acceleration peak is notable. There are different laws on different magnitude and site classification. And it is diverse on PGA of two horizontal directions,so these make a difference between specific applications. In addition, magnitude is different, vertical PGA is not the same as the horizontal one,so they should not be substituted with a coefficient.
