Maintaining and Sustaining the United States Army in the 21st Century

Abstract : The United States Army is changing across the total spectrum of doctrine, training, leader development, organizations, materiel, and soldier (DTLOMS) structure. This transformation is often referred to as a Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA) which will result in the Army After Next (AAN) force for the 21st century. This anticipated transformation must include a evolution in Military Logistics (RML) that will position the Nation's as well as the Army's logistical support structure to maintain and sustain the forces envisioned for the 21st century. This paper will examine various logistics enablers and concepts in the context of their impact on DTLOMS and then postulate possible solutions for achieving a logistical end state that can support an Army After Next force structure.
