Crown lengthening surgery in improving the esthetic outcomes for maxillary anterior teeth

Objective To evaluate the aesthetic effects of crown lengthening surgery on gummy smile and gingival discrepancy. Methods A total of 53 patients with 285 teeth of gummy smile or gingival discrepancy,were treated with crown lengthening surgery. Visual analogue scale were used to reflex patients satisfaction degree,periodontal indexes were recorded,and the gingival zenith level and smile line were used to evaluate aesthetic effects of crown lengthening surgery. Results After crown lengthening surgery,cases reached aesthetic standard on the gingival zenith level,with smile line corresponding to the class and class Ⅲ aesthetic standards. Conclusion With the proper selection of surgery indications and the delicate operation,doctors can attain aesthetic effects through crown lengthening surgery.
