Abstract
Objective Analyze clinicopathologic features of thyroid nodules received operation. Methods Clinical and pathological characters of 2844 cases of thyroid nodules which underwent operation were analyzed respectively to summarize the clinical features of benign and malignant nodules. Results Benign nodules in this group accounted for 89.45 percent, with an average age of 47.8 years; malignant nodules accounted for 10.55%, with an average age of 45.3 years. The ratio with increased thyroid antibodies in malignant nodules was 32.09%, and in benign nodules was 23.95%. Difference between the two groups was significant ( P0.05 ). Benign lesions ratio (78.60%) in the cold nodules diagnosed by 131 I radionuclide scan, was significantly lower than that in warm nodules (84.62%) or in hot nodules (96.88%)( P0.05 ). Regardless of benign nodules or malignant nodules, the scope of surgical resection was expanding. Conclusion In majority of thyroid nodules are still benign nodules. The age of patients with malignant nodules is younger than benign cases. Malignant nodules are general accompanied with cold nodules or Hashimoto's disease. Thyroid lobectomy is becoming a kind of standard operation.
