Effect of Radiotherapy on Ear Function in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

Objective: To study the changes of ear function and construction after radiotherapy in nasopharyngeal carcinoma.Methods: Hearing and physical examination were performed in 163 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma at different time after radiotherapy.Results: The incidence of the otitis externa,secretory otitis media,suppurative otitis media,different type hearing loss and extent of hearing loss was increased according to radiotherapeutic time and the time after radiation.Conclusion: Injury of structure and function of ear was apparently affected after radiotheray of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and life quality of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma was markedly lowered.
