Abstract

Objective: To review the effects of radiofrequency catheter ablation on patients with four types of specific tachyarrhythmias. Methods: The tachycardias of patients were mapped and ablated in cardiac catheterization room. Results: Of 21 patients with multiple accessory pathways, 15 were successfully ablated only one time, 4 ablated twice, 2 ablated thrice; 10 cases with accessory pathways were in both sides (mitral and tricuspid valve circle),7 only in left sided, 4 only in right sided; 11 patients had three accessory pathways, 3 had four, 1 had five, the successful rate of ablation was 100 percent. All of 12 patients with persistent left superior vena cava were left sided accessory pathways, the successful rate of catheter ablation was 100%. 5 cases with Ebstein's anomaly were right sided accessory pathway, the successful rate was 100%. In 6 children(14 years old),1 was right sided posterolaterior accessory pathway with delta wave; among 2 left sided accessory pathways, 1 anterolaterial with delta wave, 1 parahisian pathway; 2 dual pathway in atrio ventricular node, the successful rate 100%. After 1 year of follow up, there were no recurrence in all patients stated above. Conclusion: Radiofrequency catheter ablation could thoroughly cure specific tachycardias related to accessory pathway.
