Abstract

In the studies on forest ecosystems, various carbon cycle models were proposed, based on the modern theory of forest ecosystem and computer technology in simulating carbon cycle process of forest ecosystem. They can provide a clear and scientific basis for studies on forest ecosystem carbon cycles. This paper reviews two important carbon cycle models of forest ecosystem:one is carbon cycle model for patch forest ecosystem, the other one is carbon cycle model for regional terrestrial ecosystem.Several typical carbon cycle cases of patch forest ecosystem and regional terrestrial ecosystem are selected,in comparing the structures and characteristics of these models, and in discussing their applications and shortcomings. The future trends of development of carbon cycle models of forest ecosystem are pointed out.
