Wideband DOA estimation algorithm based on array extension

Abstract

Because the steering vectors are different in different frequency,it is difficult to estimate the direction-of-arrival(DOA) of wideband signal. To settle this problem,firstly,this paper proposed a direct spatial spectrum estimation algorithm of wideband signal,the restrictive condition of which was extremely strict. Then,using the delay property of wideband signal,it extended the array to propose a new wideband DOA estimation algorithm. The new algorithm did not need to pre-estimate DOAs.Finally,it analyzed how to use the new algorithm under the two frequency spectrum conditions of continuous spectrum and comb spectrum. The results of simulation experiments show that the new algorithm has higher probability of success and smaller estimation error than the traditional algorithms when the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) is high.
