Abstract

A rapid and precise method was developed for the determination of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons( PAHs) in water by solid-phase microextraction( SPME) coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry( GC /MS). The key extraction parameters influencing extraction efficiency, such as the type of SPME fiber, extraction time, extraction temperature and stirring speed were investigated and optimized. The result shows that the optimized extraction was carried out at 35 ℃ for 40 min using 100μm polydimethylsiloxane( PDMS) fiber with stirring speed of480 r·min- 1. The limits of detection were 0. 006—0. 008 ng·mL- 1. Good linearity was also observed in the range of 0. 01—50 ng·mL- 1with correlation coefficients varying from 0. 9815 to 0.9982. The proposed method was applied to the analysis of 16 PAHs in water samples of Taihu Lake with good recovery rate from 70. 3% —118. 5%. Naphthalene was detected in the two of the four samples, and no other PAHs were detected in the water samples.
