Abstract
Starting from the Chinese artistic spirits,this paper has studied the three characteristics of Wordsworth's nature lyrics—serenity;being alone;a light,free state of mind.Though some of his ideas may prove old-fashioned today,his nature lyrics are fairly compatible with the Chinese aesthetic val- ues.Therefore a deeper understanding of the poet may contribute to the confluence of the east and west cultures.
