A Review of Traffic Simulation

Traffic simulation is computer simulation technique's application in traffic engineering area,its aim is to build up a kind of computer model as the substitute of real or virtual traffic situation,which can help to evaluate the quality of traffic control plan and the reasonability of traffic design scheme.This paper first introduces the concept of traffic simulation,then gives its classification followed by traffic development situation in world and three typical simulation software explanations : CORSIM.PARAMICS and VISSIM.At last,the prospect of traffic simulation in the future is briefly predicted.
