The Challenges and Strategies of Chinese Aging Population

Abstract

The aging population is not only the problem of China but also of the world in the 21st century.?It refers a dynamic process of the growing proportion of old persons accounting to some percentage of population.?From the census results in 2000,the population aged 60 and above in China occupied 10.3% of the total population,aged 65 and above is 6.96%.?This means that 2000 is not only the beginning of the new century but the starting point of our aging society.On the one hand aging society indicates Chinese economic growth,social stability and medical advances,on the other hand it also brought enormous pressures and challenges in the further development of China's society.?So we must change our conception and have a correct understanding of aging society,accelerate the development speed of economics,and carry out a actively aging strategies that give the elders a sense of security and usefulness.
