Abstract

Objective To measure the C2 spinous process, lamina and pedicle by CT and analyze the clinical significance. Methods One hundred people were evaluated on C2 by CT.Anatomic evaluation of the C2 spinous process, lamina and pedicle were performed. Results The average width of the base of C2 spinous process, the middle part of lamina and the pedicle was(19.57±2.11),(6.12±1.23) and(5.82±1.39)mm respectively. The average height of the middle part of C2 spinous process, lamina and the pedicle was(13.13±2.06),(12.63±1.91) and(5.73±1.25)mm respectively. The average width of the base of C2 spinous process was significantly larger than the middle part of lamina and the pedicle, with significant difference(P 0.05).The average height of the middle part of the C2 spinous process and lamina were significant larger than the the pedicle, with significant difference(P 0.05).Conclusion There are larger safe space of the C2 spinous process than lamina and pedicle for placing the screw.C2 spinous process screw fixation is anatomically feasible and may serve as an alternative for posterior C2 fixation.
