Abstract
This paper studies hi-tech small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs),focusing on the financing characteristics of these enterprises in their start-up stage of the life cycle.The research methods of literature review and case study are employed,and by means of questionnaire and in-depth interviews,the paper compares and analyzes the financing characteristics of four SMEs.The study shows that there appear some new characteristics of Chinese SMEs in their start-up stage in terms of financing objectives,demands,major channels and methods.
